FIELD HOCKEY | GU Bounces Back After Bryant Loss

The Georgetown field hockey team (2-3) brought home their second victory of the season this past Saturday after defeating Holy Cross, 4-2, in Worcester, Mass.

In the impressive team effort, the Hoyas wasted no time and rushed to score all four of their goals in the first half.

Just 10 minutes into the game, junior forward Annie Wilson scored the first goal off a pass from junior forward Catherine Shugrue. Five minutes later junior midfielder Laura Thistle doubled the Hoyas lead before Shugrue gave the Blue and Gray a 3-0 lead off a penalty corner.

Sophomore forward Kaitlyn Goodson scored the team’s fourth and final goal with the clock winding down toward halftime.

Although the Crusaders rallied in the second stanza to halve the Hoyas’ lead, they were unable to recover from their 4-0 hole and Georgetown held on for the win.

The Hoyas will start off Big East play against Louisville Saturday. The game will be played at 11 a.m. at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex at American University.
