A picture may say a thousand words, but for patients at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, it provides a voice that may otherwise go unheard.

Not all college students took a break from the library this past Saturday. Volunteers from Georgetown, The George Washington University and Howard University, along with students and parents from River Terrace Elementary School in Northeast D.C., gathered at the school to complete various beautification projects, as well as to construct a family lending library.

The members of Georgetown’s first student-run class, Sweatshops at Home and Abroad, moved the classroom to the Dominican Republic for six days over spring break, collaborating with a range of factory and agricultural workers for some field-based learning.

RecycleMania, the annual intercollegiate competition to reduce waste and boost recycling, is back.

Georgetown, which first entered the contest last year, has expanded its participation to three of the four categories — the Stephen K. Gaski Per Capita Classic, Gorilla Prize and Targeted Materials.
