Georgetown is on its way back to the team race national championships.

In the biggest of the team’s weekend regattas, the Hoyas took second at the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) coed team race championship in Kings Point, N.Y., finishing two wins behind No. 1 St. Mary’s in the round-robin style regatta.

Georgetown kicked off the spring crew season on the right foot, collecting the Cannonball Trophy at the Jesuit Invitational. The Hoyas earned the trophy for the program with the highest team score on the strength of a first-place finish in the men’s varsity 8 and a second-place result in the women’s varsity 8.

Led by junior Goran Bistric and senior Caitlin Colling, the Georgetown men’s and women’s swimming teams set a combined 12 school records this weekend at the Big East Championship in East Meadow, N.Y.

Georgetown kicked off its season in Kennesaw, Ga. this past weekend for the Kennesaw State Tournament. The Hoyas (1-4) started the tournament with two losses on Friday before splitting their two games on Saturday.

In the Hoyas’ final home meet of the season at McCarthy Pool, St. Bonaventure rained on Georgetown’s senior day.

The Bonnies downed the men’s team 154-71, and beat the women by a tally of 145-97 on Saturday afternoon.

“I thought we raced tired,” Head Coach Steven Cartwright said, adding that the Hoyas were focusing on their individual events this weekend.

Men’s Lacrosse

With more than a month before their first regular season game, Georgetown is already garnering accolades.

After finishing 7-0 in the ECAC conference last season, the Hoyas were picked to win the conference for the ninth straight year and swept the ECAC individual preseason awards. Four members of the team were named to the preseason all-ECAC team.
