A smile is a frown turned upside-down, but the artists of “Emotions” see more than meets the eye in simple facial expressions. “Emotions” is a compelling art exhibit showcasing photographs of how human emotions are conveyed in various degrees. The thought provoking exhibition features images by several local artists that are intended to have audiences question everyday smiles and frowns.

The cuddly baby panda Tai Shan is the National Zoo’s most popular animal, with over 2.25 million visitors since his debut in December. Today, the zoo is hosting the Panda Club’s final day of celebration, where you can meet Mei Xiang and her cub, the beloved Tai Shan. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean the animals are hibernating, so take a stroll around to see the zoo’s impressive menagerie.

While we study the problem of God, Bart D. Ehrman examines God’s problem in his groundbreaking and engaging novel. Ehrman, the author of God’s Problem: How the Bible Fails to Answer Our Most Important Question — Why We Suffer, will hold a local book reading and discussion today. His sometimes provocative and often pedantic memoir follows his own attempts to answer theological questions.

While museums and galleries usually feature sculptures made of bronze, stone and mixed media, a less than likely venue is now displaying breathtaking sculptures of glass. Glass3, an exhibit featuring local and international works of glass art, is now being displayed at the Shops at Georgetown Park. This exhibit highlights many different styles of glass-working including modern and classical pieces of artwork.

With the unpredictable weather of the past couple weeks, global warming is as hot of a topic as ever. The discussion entitled “Warming Trends: Rapid Changes in Polar Ice Cover” is being hosted tonight by the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Waleed Abdalati of NASA will address the issue of global warming with the visual aid of stunning satellite photos.

Ballet is not limited to classics like the Nutcracker and Swan Lake, as proven by the New York City Ballet’s cutting-edge take on traditional choreography. The company, one of the largest and most highly esteemed classical ballet companies in the world, is bringing some of its famous dances to D.C. for two weeks only, beginning tonight. In two programs, each featuring a handful of different dances, renowned NYC Ballet choreographers come together with an impressive new generation of dancers.

Bon Jovi is still livin’ on a prayer, and he’s still on tour.
