Friday, January 25
Former first lady Barbara Bush is back in town. The mother of the current U.S. president, she is holding a discussion titled, “Friends and Family in Public Life.” She will highlight her various life experiences including the trials and triumphs of a life in the media spotlight. One of her most promiment roles in society is in the White House Endowment Trust, which focuses on refurbishing the White House. She currently runs the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.

Barbara Bush is speaking at 4 p.m. at the William G. McGowan Theater in the National Archives. The discussion is free to public, but make sure to arrive early for security checks. Metro: Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter (Green and Yellow lines).

Saturday, January 26
It’s one show, but with split personality disorder. Frank Caliendo, former Mad TV cast member and now host to his own television show “Frank TV” is performing tonight at the Warner Theater. Famous for his on-the-spot celebrity impressions, he will be showcasing his gift of comedy and improv. Caliendo is sure to leave you laughing all night.

Frank Caliendo is performing at the Warner Theater at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. tonight. Tickets cost between $40 and $45 and are available by calling 202-397-7328. The Warner Theater is located at 13th and E St. NW. Metro: Metro Center (Red, Blue and Orange lines).

Sunday, January 27
For the fashionista in us all, “The Fantasy Foot Ball” is taking place today at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. This shoe shopping extravaganza will encompass every shoe lover’s fantasy by providing a wide variety of vendors, special deals, raffles and “shoe-tinis” which are special drinks with ingredients inspired by the love of footwear. The show features designers Gigi Favela and Julia Bella, and bag and jewelry designs from industry talents such as Andrea D’Ambrosia, Bailey Bags and Rachelle Celine will also be present. Bring tolietries for the Women’s Collective (an HIV center) and receive special raffle tickets and bonuses!

“The Fantasy Foot Ball” event is taking place at the Georgetown Four Seasons Hotel from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $65 and includes special discounts for shoes. For more information call 202-342-0444.

Monday, January 28
Metal band As I Lay Dying is playing a show tonight at the 9:30 Club. This metal band is an underground group with great beats and an emphasis on percussion that goes above and beyond the usual crashing and clanging. Their opening acts include August Burns Red, Evergreen Terrace and Still Remains. Each band has a different style, but all encompass a great head-banging sound.

The As I Lay Dying concert will begin at 7 p.m. The 9:30 Club is located at 815 V St. NW. Tickets cost $20 and are general admission. For more information call 202-265-0930. Metro: U Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo (Green line).

Tuesday, January 29
The Kitsune Ensemble, a chamber band that specializes in Japanese music, is performing tonight. The New York-based ensemble is making a special visit to D.C. for one day only. Their music is based on Japanese cultural, artistic and historical themes, ranging from the romanticized days of the geishas to the modernity of Tokyo street fashions. The Ensemble consists of many different instruments and a great Japanese sound.

The Kitsune Ensemble is performing tonight at the John F. Kennedy Center. The concert begins at 6 p.m. and is free to the public. The Kennedy Center is located at 2700 F St. For more information, call 202-467-4600. Metro: Foggy Bottom (Orange and Blue lines).

Wednesday, January 30
Stars from the television hit “Dancing With the Stars” are coming to D.C. for a special performance. Stars include Marie Osmond with dancer Jonathan Roberts, Wayne Newton with Cheryl Burke, Joey Lawrence with Edyta Sliwinska and Monique Coleman, and Season Two winner Drew Lachey. The show will have a nightclub theme, feature the amazing performances seen on TV and include a special musical performance by Wayne Newton.

“Dancing with the Stars” will perform tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Verizon Center. Tickets cost $53 to $169 and are still available. For more information, call 202-628-3200. Metro: Gallery Place-Chinatown (Red, Green and Yellow lines).

Thursday, January 31
“F.U. (Forgive Us…What Did You Think We Meant?)” is a comedy from acclaimed playwright Keith Bridges based on a man’s struggle in the love department and his countless rejections. “F.U.” is an eclectic mix of smart and funny jokes, puns and laughs. “F.U.” represents the many struggles that most of us go through and the everyday humor that can be found in those struggles.

“F.U. (Forgive Us…What Did You Think We Meant?)” is playing tonight through Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 to $25 and are available at the door. It is playing at the Theater on the Run, 3700 S.
