Late-Night Brawl Erupts on N Street

An argument that began with an exchange of angry words over the accusation that two individuals stole dietary supplements from a house party escalated into a physical fight on N Street early Saturday morning.

Witnesses said six to eight males were involved in the fight at various times. The fight appeared to be between a group of Georgetown students and two unidentified college-age males, none of whom were reported as arrested or hospitalized.

The fight, which occurred on the sidewalk and in the middle of the 3600 block of N Street, began when two unidentified males allegedly tried to steal what looked like a container for vitamins or a type of nutritional supplement from a house hosting a gathering in the 3600 block of N Street. according to witnesses.

Jason Milliken (COL ’11) was in the house where the two were suspected of attempting to steal the supplements. He said that he heard a person inside the house say to the two, “You’re gonna put those back, right?”

He said he then saw the student pull a white, plastic jar-like container out of his jacket.

The two students then left the house after being told to leave by residents of the house, but the disagreement moved out to the street, witnesses said.

According to another observer, William McMahon (MSB ’11), the students involved in the fight exchanged derogatory words for several minutes before the fight.

McMahon said he heard people yelling as he walked by and turned to see the situation as it was escalating.

“There were six to eight guys yelling at two,” McMahon said, adding that the two being yelled at were behaving more aggressively.

Members of the groups were shoving each other before one of the two alleged thieves was thrown to the ground. He came up swinging, McMahon said, and the fray ensued.

“It was crazy,” McMahon said.

Another witness, who was granted anonymity because he reported the incident to the Department of Public Safety, said the entire incident involved at least two separate fights at once, one of which, he said, looked especially violent.

“Eventually … a guy gets pushed down, and another guy gets on top of him,” the witness said. “Then there was a third guy kicking the shit out of [the first one].”

The physical part of the altercation lasted two to three minutes, the witness who called DPS said. He said that the male being kicked looked like he received some serious blows.

“The way he was getting kicked, it looked like it could leave some lasting damage,” the witness said.

McMahon also reported that at least one of the individuals was bleeding.

The witness said the scene was “messy” and that as the fight started to settle down, he decided to call DPS.

“It looked like the fight had kind of stopped, but it looked like it was not a good situation,” the anonymous witness said.

Several DPS officers responded to the call five minutes later and “busted out the megaphone” to clear people out of the street who were leaving the broken-up parties, he said.

McMahon said he saw some of the fighters walk away from the scene as DPS officers began arriving. Both McMahon and the anonymous witness said they did not see DPS make any arrests.

A DPS representative was not available for comment.

Once again DPS shows up, watches the fight, and does nothing about it. Why do we even have Campus Police?

This is hilarious. Do not deny a brute Joe Hoya his nutritional supplements or protein shakes!

Another reminder of the wonderful role that alcohol plays in violence on and off campus. I can guarantee you that everyone involved in the incident was drinking that night and in various states of intoxication by the time this took place.

But keep it up fellow Hoyas! We're doing fine! Everything is great! Work hard play hard! Campus culture is a-okay! Nothing to see here ... move along, move along. (Or, better yet, let's blame it on DPS! There's an easy scapegoat! yeah: dps! Do your job better!)

Alcohol plays a role in violence whether you're in college or not... so if you're trying to insinuate that Hoyas are especially inclined to fighting just because we happened to petition for a more lenient alcohol policy, you're way off base. Quit regurgitating maxims your parents or church forced on you in high school... in the real world people drink till they can't see straight and make bad decisions, and they do it all the time because they enjoy it. Jorgandus P. Morgenfeld, I'm sorry you're one of the few who doesn't do these things, but just because you're sitting in your morally righteous tower doesn't mean you should force the rest of us to be bored up there with you. This isn't just campus culture, it's American culture.

And you can't guarantee anything, you weren't there.

I saw the "brawl" from the street where I was leaving a different party. It lasted only a few minutes, and yeah a few guys did take some pretty rough hits before they left. But, it seemed like all the guys involved sort of wanted to fight? That's just my interpretation though.

DPS, by the way, tries to avoid "breaking up" fights anymore, ever since last year when one of 'em tried to do it (at Henle) and get hurt really badly. Some officers say there had been a knife wound involved in that Henle fight, although administrators will not acknowledge it. Also, keep in mind that DPS officers are currently being trained in the use of batons and mace, so I don't know if you really want them there if people can break up fights on their own. Which is what happened this weekend.

all of this is bullshit, neither of the two guys got there ass kicked, and the one guy who was with the one who stole the bottle wrecked heads, and it was alot more than 6-8 ppl, try more like 20, at least the everyone in the house, lets just leave it at this, the sissys who live in the house, got worked up by two ppl. DONE

All of this talk about the two guys getting there ass kicked is FALSE, neither really got it that bad, plus one was drunk as hell and the other got jumped by at least 8 guys at once, not to mention sucker punched from behind and he still got up and wrecked heads, so lets just leave it at this, the guys that live in that house are a bunch of bitches..enough said!

Hey Tom/Mike,

First off, it's obvious you're the same person... your clever little ploy to add numbers behind your claim by disguising yourself AS TWO SEPARATE PEOPLE is, well, failing. Besides the ridiculously bad grammar and love for the phrase "wrecked heads", you posted both messages at about the same time and five days after the last person commented.

Second, it's also pretty obvious that you were one of the boys who got beat up... whether you're Tom or Michael, I'm not sure. Even though I was nowhere near this fight, I find it completely plausible that regardless of the fact that you were "drunk as hell", "sucker punched from behind", "got jumped by at least 8 guys at once", and were confronted not by 8 people but "everyone in the house", you could have still been able to leave the fight unscathed and in fact beat all of your opponents asses. Even though that makes absolutely no sense and is completely impossible, I'm sure you and your buddy were able to pull it off... I'm sure your dick really is that big.

But I guess I shouldn't make fun of the way you commented on this story... you "received some serious blows", were "thrown to the ground" and "pushed to the ground", and there was a "third guy kicking the shit out of" you. I guess our fear that "the way he was getting kicked, it looked like it could leave some lasting damage" really did come to fruition... let's just hope that someday you'll regain your ability to create a complete sentence and eventually a logical argument.

Good luck to you Tichael.

i didnt realize this was an essay contest, the guy was not trying to be grammatically correct. Lets just cut to the chase, a whole house of fratty boys got there asses kicked all over the street by two individuals, one of whom was prob you.....so while your putting gel in your hair and popping your collar the rest of us are here in the real world with the real story.

p.s. Nice pink shirts
