Men's Games to Watch

Opponent: at Syracuse
Date and Time: March 9, 3:30 p.m.
The Skinny: Georgetown’s two-year win streak against the vaunted Orange ended abruptly last year with a 14-9 setback at the Multi-Sport Facility. In the team’s first road contest of the young season, the Hoyas will look to begin a new win streak in this rivalry. The Orange, 5-8 last season, carry a No. 11 preseason ranking and are led by senior attacker Mike Leveille and junior midfielder Dan Hardy, both of whom were named to the 2008 Tewaaraton Watch List.

Opponent: Delaware
Date and Time: March 12, 3:30 p.m.
The Skinny: The Delaware Blue Hens burst on the scene last season and shocked the lacrosse world when they defeated defending champion Virginia and advanced to the Final Four. Ranked No. 14 to start the season, the Blue Hens will look to ride last season’s wave of success into this year. Led by senior attacker Cam Howard and senior defenseman Evan Crowther-Washburn, Delaware will look to avenge last season’s 9-8 nail-biting loss, a game in which sophomore midfielder Andrew Brancaccio delivered the game-winning strike with just under four minutes to play.

Opponent: Duke
Date and Time: March 22, 11:00 a.m.
The Skinny: March Madness hits the Multi-Sport Facility for a monumental contest against last year’s national runner-up, Duke. The Hoyas fell last year in an extremely competitive back-and-forth match 6-4. In that game, Georgetown got off to a quick 2-0 lead, but soon after, momentum faded and last season’s Tewaaraton trophy award winner, attacker Matt Danowski, propelled his team to the win. Danowski is one of three fifth-year seniors for the Blue Devils, with long stick midfielder Nick O’Hara and defenseman Tony McDevitt rounding out the trio. All three will be on a short list of favorites for first team all-American honors.

Opponent: at Navy
Date and Time: March 29, 1:00 p.m.
The Skinny: Last season at the Multi-Sport Facility Georgetown upended a previously unbeaten 8-0 Navy team in a thrilling fashion, and in turn, captured its fourth straight victory in the series against the Midshipmen, 10-9. Navy, 11-4 last season and ranked ninth to start this one, is paced by senior defenseman Jordan DiNola, the Patriot League preseason pick for defensive player of the year. Senior attacker Nick Mirabito, brother of Georgetown sophomore attacker Ricky Mirabito, led the team in scoring last season with 23 goals and 21 assists and returns for a final campaign.
