Lisa Davis will become Georgetown's vice president for information services and chief information officer on Feb. 6, according to a university announcement Friday.
Davis is currently the CIO and assistant director for information technology for the U.S. Marshals Service. She will replace Kevin Murphy, who has served as interim vice president for information services and CIO since July 2010.
Davis will be responsible for developing Georgetown's use of information technology and its role in the industry.
"I am confident that [Davis] will work effectively across all departments and campuses with faculty, administrators, staff and students to create a vision for IT while she manages and leads the delivery of high-quality service," Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Augostini said in the university announcement.
Davis was named a leading innovator in the annual InformationWeek Government IT Innovators Contest and a Premier IT Leader for 2012 by ComputerWorld. She is also the recipient of the Superio Civilian Service Award, the third highest award by the Department of the Army.
