Afghan President Hamid Karzai will speak on Afghan-American relations in Gaston Hall Friday, according to Georgetown’s press office.

The remarks, titled “Afghanistan Beyond 2014: A Perspective on Afghan-U.S. Relations,” are part of a week-long visit to the United States on which Karzai is expected to request increased U.S. aid to Afghanistan, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Karzai has spoken at Georgetown on two previous occasions, once in September 2006 and once in his capacity as interim authority chairman in January 2002, which marked his first public appearance in the United States, according to Ascribe Higher Education News Service.

According to Georgetown's Director of Media Relations Rachel Pugh, space will be available to students with university identification on a first-come, first-served basis.
