O’Donovan Hall experienced a problem with the hot water heater on Oct. 20 and used disposable plates, bowls, cups and utensils to serve dinner.

The water that comes in from the city damaged the hot water heaters, according to Andrew Lindquist, executive director of campus dining services. This caused the pressure and temperature of the water in the heaters to drop. Students used disposable plates and cups and plastic silverware while the problem was fixed.

“It appears that it has been an isolated incident and we should be fine moving forward,” Lindquist said.

Dining services is looking into a long-term solution, according to Lindquist.

“We have some teams coming in to look at that for the long term and are really just trying to focus on how we can avoid it in the future,” he said.
