Hoya Notebook: Sailing

The Georgetown sailing program finished the fall season ranked first in the nation by the ICSA panel of college coaches, rising from its previous third-place ranking. The women’s team finished the season ranked eighth in the country, dropping one spot in the final two weeks of competition. The men were led this year by Andrew Campbell’s record-breaking performance in the Singlehanded National Championship on Nov. 19. He was the first sailor to take the title three times. The team itself posted second-place finishes at the Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championship and the ICSA Sloop National Championship. Harvard, Hawaii, Brown and the University of Southern California made up the rest of the top five on the men’s side. The final women’s poll ranked Yale, Navy, St. Mary’s (Md.), Hawaii and the College of Charleston as the top five teams.
