Georgetown took third place at the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament, held at Bolling Air Force base in Maryland.

On Saturday, the Hoyas defeated Kutztown, 12-0, and later that day beat Villanova, 17-0. On Sunday afternoon the Hoyas lost to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 42-3, and went home with third-place honors.

In the win over Kutztown, Georgetown won because of strong scrums by the forwards, helping Georgetown keep possession of the ball, according to Jean-Baptiste Seilliere, a player on the rugby team.

In Saturday’s second win, scrum-half Greg Bassi scored three tries and Jim Goodfellow converted a penalty to lead Georgetown to the win.

Bad conditions didn’t help the Hoyas on Sunday in their loss to eventual champion Indiana.

Next week the Hoyas play at Pennsylvania.
