Gracenotes Sing With Musicianship

TO THE EDITOR:

I’m writing in response to the article “Chimes Killing Us Softly With Song” by Kaitlyn Edsall (THE HOYA, Feb.11, 2005, B1). The reviewer judged the groups by their choreography and jokes, not their sound. Choreography and jokes are important, but the lack of them doesn’t mean that a group isn’t talented.

Not only did the Gracenotes not struggle through their set, they were the only group that didn’t have obvious pitch problems. They chose a set that fit their group; they weren’t trying to be something they weren’t.

The reviewer judged the groups on showmanship and not musical ability.
