Tickets to The Roots concert, scheduled to go on sale at 10 a.m. today, will be sold at a later date due to contractual problems. According to Georgetown Program Board Concert Chair Justin Barra, tickets for the Sept. 29 event will go on sale as soon as the difficulties are resolved.

Originating in the 1980s in Philadelphia, The Roots infuses elements of jazz, rap and pop. Hailed by fans as one of hip-hop’s top bands, they have been influenced by such groups as A Tribe Called Quest and the Beastie Boys.

This summer, GPB made an effort to vary the sort of musicians performing at the university. While past musical guests such as Ben Harper and Dispatch have a very select group of loyal fans, as a hip-hop band, The Roots attracts followers from a different field.
