To the Editor:

Thanks for stepping up and applying the pressure on Bob Benson (“GU Football: Sacked,” THE HOYA, Nov. 22, 2005, A2). He has failed to prove he can either coach or recruit in the Patriot League. It is time for him to go.

As an alumnus in upstate New York, I went to the Cornell game and was flat out embarrassed by our team and the basic mistakes and lack of focus they demonstrated. We, at Georgetown especially, cannot forget the power of athletics to help build a school’s national recognition academically. If we could compete with our non-conference Ivy competitors in football, it would certainly help elevate our academic reputation relative to these institutions as well.

Keep up the calls for his removal.
