Last Wednesday, Georgetown seniors Scott Larrabee, Len Coleman and Mark Zeman all saw their college careers come to an end after a loss in penalty kicks at home in the first round of the conference tournament to DePaul.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Hoyas (9-8-2) lost their opening round game of the Big East tournament to the DePaul Blue Demons (8-9-2) on penalty kicks.

After a heartbreaking overtime defeat to Providence on senior day at North Kehoe Field, the men’s soccer team will likely need to win the Big East tournament to qualify for the NCAA tournament later this month.

The proverbial wind is blowing against the Georgetown men’s soccer team, and as Head Coach Brian Wiese sees it, one of two things will happen.

Trailing 1-0 with less than 15 minutes remaining, the Hoyas roared back on Saturday in Morgantown, W. Va., to steal three points from the West Virginia Mountaineers in another pivotal Big East match-up, notching two goals in the final minutes — one while down a man — to win 2-1.

Despite controlling the pace of the match, Georgetown lost a crucial 2-1 contest to Notre Dame in overtime on Wednesday at North Kehoe Field.

This past Saturday, the Hoyas traveled to Milwaukee — as far from the Hilltop as they will be all season — to square off against the Marquette Golden Eagles.

The Hoyas fell to the reigning national champions in a pair of home matches at North Kehoe Field.

Five minutes may not sound like a long time. That’s because it isn’t. But in five minutes on Wednesday night, the Hoyas proved just how much can change in those 300 seconds.

On Saturday evening in Storrs, Conn., the Hoyas hit a bump in the road on their quest for Big East success this season.
